Dubai-based property developer and Food for Life Vrindavan (FFLV) patron The First Group (TFG) recently enlisted legendary England striker Michael Owen to take part in a charity challenge with all proceeds going towards supporting the organisation’s work in India, including girls’ education.
The firm’s Co-Founder and Joint Chairman, Danny Lubert, invited the former footballer, who is also one of the company’s brand ambassadors, to perform 25 kick-ups, promising to donate AED1,000 ($272) for every kick-up completed. The former England, Liverpool and Real Madrid striker not only met, but far exceeded the challenge, performing 77 kick ups in total, equating to a final donation of AED77,000 ($21,000)!
The ‘Kick Up Challenge’ was staged at the TFG Fitness & Wellness Hub, a state-of-the-art fitness facility created for the firm’s employees and located in its Dubai headquarters.
TFG is a proud patron of FFLV and also sponsors 100 girls housed by the charity. As part of the firm’s wide-ranging ‘Enriching Young Lives’ CSR initiative, which donates funds to charities that provide education and medical care to young people in need, TFG has supported the society for several years.
“I’d like to thank Michael for taking time out of his busy schedule to complete the kick-up challenge at the new TFG Fitness & Wellness Hub in Dubai,” said Lubert. “Thanks to his generosity of spirit and of course, his sporting prowess, The First Group is able to make another meaningful donation to Food for Life Vrindavan, supporting its charitable efforts, which true to our company’s CSR mission statement, Enriching Young Lives.”
